Colorbond and modular wall fencing are the two most popular boundary systems we install across the Mid North Coast. Both are fast to install, both handle the coastal climate well, and both look great on day one — but they suit different briefs. Here's how to think about which one is right for your property.
Budget and timeframe
Colorbond is the more cost-effective option on a per-metre basis, and a typical residential boundary run goes up in a day or two. Modular wall costs more — closer to the price of a built masonry wall — but is still a fraction of the cost and time of a true rendered block wall.
Acoustic performance
If road noise, neighbour noise or pool pump noise is part of the brief, modular wall is the clear winner. The acoustic-rated panels noticeably reduce sound transmission, and at 2.4m high a modular wall has a real, measurable impact on a busy frontage.
Street appeal
Both materials look the part. Colorbond gives you a clean modern boundary in the colour of your choice; modular wall gives you the high-end rendered or stone look without the cost of a built wall. It often comes down to the architectural style of the home and what works against the streetscape.
